Lisa's mom's rock 'n roll past

Image
Lisa's dad writes: Checking out of Lowes nursery today, the young girl at the cash register was all excited. As mom walked up and down the aisles, the girl trying to watch her from a distance was sure she was Ann Wilson of the band Heart.

Wooley Bear caterpillar

Debbie had a birthday, got some ferrets, that is all.

Lisa's sister, Debbie, writes: I'm not one for lots o' pics, but I had a fun birthday. Thanks for the cards n calls guys! Kellen and I took a nap then went canoeing/bird watching on Friday. Then Saturday, we went to the Pasifika festival and ate Samoan food (well, I just ate rice, cuz I was nauseous). We invited friends for a BBQ and then it rained. Okay that's all! Oh and I got ferrets for my Bday presents! Guero is the big white male and Morena is the lil brown female. Meggie got me a hand mixer which for some reason I still didn't have after 2 yrs of marriage. I guess I just enjoy making cookie dough with a fork.

Tablecloth

Image
Lisa writes: It's a slow news day ... I sewed a tablecloth. Unable to buy a tablecloth to fit our odd-sized, square dining room table, it became a do-it-yourself project. Two curtains from the as-in bin at Ikea and a couple of seams and here ya go:

D.C. United vs. Seattle Sounders

Image
Lisa writes: One of Tom's coworkers gave him a pair of D.C. United soccer tickets that she was unable to use. We took the Metro straight to RFK Stadium right after work. It was $2 hot dog night. Tom is not a hot dog kind of guy, but I sold on the idea that it was all part of the "experience." (Truth be told, so is $10 beer, but neither of us was going to fall for that.) The United won against the Seattle Sounders, 2-1. This was made even sweeter by the charming, charming Seattle fans themselves. You can click to enbiggen the pic ... ah, nevermind, I'll just translate for you: Sign 1: "SEND BEER" Sign 2: "D.C. YOUR STADIUM HAS WEEDS" Sign 3: "SO THIS IS WHAT A NON-SOLD-OUT GAME LOOKS LIKE" Sign 4: (Picture of a trophy) "OURS -- NOT YOURS" Sign 5: "WE GOT STATEHOOD. YOU?" Twits.
