Spring in PreK
James's PreKindergarten teacher, Mrs. Miranda, wrote: Spring is actually here! FINALLY!!!
The class is learning about pollinators: that butterflies and bees fly from flower to flower and when they do, they get pollen on their legs, and when they land on each flower, they accidentally drop some of the pollen on their legs from other flowers, then pick up more on their legs. This helps the plant when they get pollen from other flowers. Bees use this pollen to make honey.
The class has also learned that flowers that grow on trees are called "blossoms". Today we gave each of the students a blossom so they could see the pollen. They touched the pollen and got some on their fingers - just like the butterflies and bees!
Note from Lisa: I am nor surprised to see that James appear to be leading the effort. Every day this week he has come home and reported that he found dinosaur bones on the playground at school.
