Lisa's parents come to Washington and see some flowers and the Capitol

Lisa's mom writes: We left Colorado in a blizzard...Such joy to see spring! Lisa & TomRexene and a cherry tree next to the Capitol.
Daisies growing on trees?
Lunch at the new Smithsonian National Museum of American Indian (out of time to see - next visit).
Lisa & Dad and I leaving the New National Harbor area.
Lisa with the flowers & world's biggest typewriter eraser.
Lisa and Dad with the World's Biggest Mosquito - "Oh, no!" Lisa's least favorite.
Lisa and Rexene doing an ad for FTD at the National Gallery Art Washington DC- Breathtaking! The only Leonardo de Vinci in America! Rembrandt's self portrait - a painting of his wife and so many others.
Walking from one gallery of art to another - Lisa - the prettiest flower of all! (These are real weeping willows of blooms).

We saw the blossoms yesterday--reminds me why I like the Kenwood neighborhood better than the Tidal Basin, but we were w/ my parents so we have to do the tourist-y thing. It was beautiful and totally worth it.

I went downtown for the Cherry Blossom Festival one time, probably 12 years ago. The crowds were incredible. Shoulder to shoulder for as far as the eye could see.

We went to the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum on March 23 and there are rows of cherry trees in between each row of parking spaces. The whole parking lot was in bloom! It was weeks before the official Cherry Blossom Festival and no crowds! (Of course, it would be hard sell to convince your out of town guests to drive all the way out to Dulles to see the blossoms in a parking lot...)
